A nurse was held down by her hair and repeatedly hit by a patient at a West Palm Beach hospital.
The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) said that an officer heard a scream from a room while in the Emergency Room of HCA Florida JFK North Hospital at 4:15 a.m.
The officer reportedly went to go check and see what had happened and found a nurse being held down by her hair by M S and screaming for help.
The probable cause affidavit stated the nurse had just relieved a sitter assigned to watch over the 27-year-old male patient with paraplegia, S, when the assault began.
Witnesses told WPBPD that S became aggressive after the shift change, grabbing G’s hair and using his hands to pull her down while hitting her.
A nurse, who was present during the incident, corroborated G’s account, stating that she too began screaming for assistance when the attack occurred.
To subdue S and free the nurse, the responding officer said they struck him twice in the chest, causing him to release his grip.
S has been accused of battery on specified personnel.
