Miami Gardens woman accused of attacking girlfriend with Taser, umbrella

A Miami Gardens woman is facing charges after police said she attacked her girlfriend with a Taser and an umbrella during a domestic dispute, authorities confirmed in an arrest report Thursday.

Miami Gardens police said officers responded to the Park Place Apartments around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a domestic-related battery.

The report stated that the suspect, who police identified as 27-year-old FCM, pushed her girlfriend before picking up a small electric Taser and striking her with it.

Police said M then put the Taser down and grabbed both an umbrella and a kitchen knife.

The victim told police that she was chased by M around her residence as M wielded both items, though no verbal threats were made and the knife was eventually put down, according to the report.

However, the victim told police that M struck her with the umbrella in the arm and left rib cage area, the report stated.

By the time officers arrived, investigators said M had left the scene but later contacted law enforcement and requested an officer to retrieve her belongings.

After being read her Miranda rights, M made some type of confession but denied hitting the victim with the umbrella. However, officers noted that the umbrella was bent, which was “congruent with hitting something or someone.”

The victim also had a minor laceration on her arm, which she claimed was caused by the Taser, police said.

Authorities confirmed that the two women had been in a relationship for about two years and live together in the home where the incident occurred.

Jail records show M is facing one count each of attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and a separate battery charge.

As of Thursday, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed as “to be set.”
