Jacksonville man riding motorized scooter dies after being hit by truck in Clay County

A Jacksonville man riding a motorized scooter died Thursday morning after being hit by a truck on County Road 209 in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP report, around 6 a.m., a 56-year-old man was driving a white Doge Ram work truck southbound on CR-209. At the same time, a 35-year-old man riding a motorized black scooter was traveling northbound.

Troopers said the work truck made a left turn in front of the scooter, ultimately causing a crash.

The rider of the scooter was transported to a hospital where he died.

The crash is still under investigation, FHP said.
