A 33-year-old Ocala man sunbathing on the beach was injured on Saturday in Volusia County when a vehicle ran him over while trying to back into a parking spot, according to a news release.
Deputies said the incident happened near the Cardinal Drive beach ramp in Ormond Beach around 10:43 a.m.
According to the release, the driver of a Jeep traveled outside of the travel lanes to back into a parking spot and in the process, ran the man over.
Deputies said the beachgoer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his thigh and arm. He was reported to be in stable condition.
The driver of the Jeep, a 61-year-old Ormond Beach woman, remained on the scene and was cited for careless driving.
The investigation is ongoing, deputies said.
