A 28-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, days after he shot another man during a financial dispute in Miami, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, the shooting happened around 2 p.m. last Friday in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street.
Miami police said the suspect, RTS, of Hialeah, and the victim have known each other for a few months after meeting through a mutual friend.
Police said S does not have a bank account, so the victim allows him to deposit and withdraw money from his account.
According to the report, S believed he had deposited $1,000 into the victim’s bank account, however the transaction never processed, leading S to mistakenly think that the victim had withdrawn the money.
Police said the victim went to the Wells Fargo bank on Biscayne Boulevard Friday to find out why the transaction never processed.
According to the report, S arrived shortly after the victim and waited for him by his car.
When the victim was finished, the two got into his vehicle to discuss a solution about the failed transaction, the report stated.
Police said as the victim drove them around the city, they began to argue, and the victim noticed that S had a revolver on him.
According to the report, the victim stopped the car and tried to remove S from the vehicle.
A struggle ensued and the gun went off, striking the victim in both legs, authorities said.
Police said S then jumped into the driver’s seat and fled north on Northwest Seventh Avenue.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center to be treated for his injuries.
According to the report, the victim identified S to police in a single photo lineup.
Police said S was pulled over on Wednesday and was taken into custody. A silver revolver matching the description given by the victim was found in the backseat of the Mercedes-Benz, authorities said.
The report states that S provided detectives with a confession, however his exact statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
S was arrested on charges of armed robbery/carjacking and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
As of Thursday afternoon, S, who is a Cuban national, remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an immigration hold.
