Gas station clerk critically injured in Baker County armed robbery, suspects in custody

MACCLENNY, Fla. – A gas station clerk is in critical condition after being shot during an armed robbery, according to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened Tuesday night at the Royalty Gas on US 90 and Eighth Street.

Deputies said two suspects, one adult and one juvenile, were confronted by the store clerk after they attempted to steal alcoholic beverages.

According to the BCSO, a physical altercation started between the clerk and one of the suspects, which ended in the suspect pulling out a handgun and shooting the clerk.

The suspects left the scene and started a vehicle chase with police. Deputies said stop sticks were deployed, which caused the car to crash on US-90 and Cow Pen Road.
