A Fort Myers police officer was injured in a crash with a Dodge Grand Caravan at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:24 p.m.
The Dodge Grand Caravan was heading west on Colonial Blvd and approached the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway.
Troopers said the fully marked FMPD patrol vehicle was heading north on Six Mile Cypress Parkway approaching Colonial Boulevard.
According to the report, the driver of the Dodge went through the intersection and into the path of the FMPD vehicle.
The front left side of the Dodge collided with the front of the FMPD vehicle.
According to FHP, the emergency lights and siren of the FMPD patrol vehicle were activated.
FHP said the officer was taken to the Gulf Coast Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the FHP news release, the driver of the Dodge Grand Caravan suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
