Bicyclist killed in Lake County crash, troopers say

A bicyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at County Road 473 and Fountain Lake Boulevard around 6:30 p.m.

According to a crash report, a Toyota Tacoma ws traveling south on County Road 473, south of Fountain Lake Boulevard.

At the same time, a bicyclist was traveling north on the southbound outside shoulder.

Troopers said the cyclist swerved in the direct path of the pickup truck and as a result, the front of the Tacoma struck the bicycle.

The cyclist, identified as a 69-year-old Eustis man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup truck driver, identified as a 61-year-old Leesburg man, was not injured and remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
