Motorcyclist killed in crash on SR 408 in Orange County

A man riding a motorcycle along State Road 408 in Orange County was killed in a crash late Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. on eastbound S.R. 408 at mile marker 22, east of Alafaya Trail, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the motorcyclist — identified as a 44-year-old Orlando man — was traveling eastbound in the outside lane when the bike failed to negotiate a curve to the left and ran off the roadway to the right. The right side of the motorcycle struck a guardrail, causing the rider to be thrown from the bike, the report states.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. Troopers believe he was not wearing a helmet during the crash.

FHP is still investigating.
