A man in an alleged stolen vehicle led deputies on a short chase before hitting a pole in Escambia County on Monday night.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop the suspect on Navy Boulevard and Gulf Beach Highway. But he drove away at a high rate of speed.
However, the chase was cut short when the suspect hit a pole near South Fairfield Drive around 7:40 p.m. No other cars or people were hurt.
The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital as precaution.
The crash temporarily knocked out traffic lights in the area. Crews are working to restore them.
