A Springfield man has been arrested for attempted murder following a stabbing on Sunday.
According to a news release, around 11 p.m., the Springfield Police Department responded to a physical disturbance at a residence in the 3400 block of E Game Farm Road.
Officers learned on the scene that the victim had been stabbed and was later transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
During the investigation, it was determined that the victim had been stabbed by his roommate, 40-year-old Dewey Nathaniel Davis.
Officers said that Davis attacked the victim while he was sleeping, and as the victim got out of bed to defend himself, Davis stabbed him in the chest and neck.
The victim was able to run to a nearby residence, where they contacted 911. During an interview, Davis admitted to stabbing and attempting to kill the victim.
Davis has been transported to the Bay County Jail to await his first appearance.
