A Brewton teen is dead and several others are injured following a rollover crash in Escambia County on Sunday evening.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division says the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Escambia County 55 near Neese Road, approximately five miles south of East Brewton.
An 18-year-old was fatally injured while riding in the bed of a Ford F-150 pickup that overturned. A 16-year-old and 17-year-old were also in the bed of the truck. A 15-year-old passenger was riding in the cab of the truck.
A 16-year-old driver of the Ford left the roadway, which resulted in a crash. The 18-year-old was thrown from the truck after it overturned. He was pronounced dead on scene.
The teens in the bed of the truck were injured and taken to an area hospital. The 15-year-old and 16-year-old driver were not wearing seatbelts at the time. They, too, were injured and transported to a hospital.
