A man has been arrested after Fort Myers police say a hit-and-run crash damaged a city light pole and a business.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded at around 1:33 a.m. to reports of a car flipped on its hood following a crash at the intersection of US-41 and Winkler Avenue in Fort Myers, temporarily shutting down all lanes of US-41.

The crash also knocked down a light pole, according to crews on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not at the scene when officers arrived, FMPD said. Officers later located the registered owner of the vehicle, identified as C, 23, near the crash. He was arrested at the scene.

C was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital and was cleared medically before being transported to Lee County Jail. He faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and was cited for leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage. A firearm was also recovered from the car.
