Broward Prisoners Transport Van, Bus Crash

Broward County Sheriff’s Office report a crash call was received at approximately 5:31 a.m.

The Broward County Regional Communications was notified of the crash with injuries near West Atlantic Boulevard and North Andrews Avenue in Pompano Beach.

According to investigators, two Broward Sheriff’s Office Prisoner Transport units and a civilian vehicle were involved. Paramedics transported a BSO deputy to a nearby hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries. No other injuries were reported; however, as a precaution, seven prisoners were also taken to a nearby hospital for medical clearance.

Detectives say one of the transport units, a van, was carrying seven prisoners while the other unit, a bus, was carrying 45.

BSO Pompano Beach District detectives are investigating.
