A Los Angeles woman was arrested in West Palm Beach Tuesday after deputies say they located her with airbags deployed and seven empty BeatBox wine drinks.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, B, 30, was involved in a crash around 10:24 p.m. at Okeechobee Boulevard and Indian Road.
Deputies said the white Volkswagen Jetta had significant front-end damage and a deployed airbag. A witness told deputies she heard the crash, saw the Jetta skid and hit two other vehicles, then ran over to check on the driver.
When deputies spoke with B, they said she had slurred speech, watery eyes, dilated pupils, and an odor of alcohol coming from her.
B reportedly told deputies she was in the area visiting a friend. She also told one deputy she was not used to driving in the rain.
Deputies said B refused to perform field sobriety exercises after being warned that her refusal could be used in criminal proceedings. She was then arrested on suspicion of DUI with property damage.
But the investigation didn’t end at the crash scene.
While taking inventory of B’s belongings, an investigator found an open BeatBox wine container in the vehicle. Deputies said they later found nine BeatBox wine drinks in B’s bags, each containing 11.1% alcohol by volume.
Seven of the nine boxes were empty, according to the affidavit.
B faces charges including DUI with property damage, refusal to submit to DUI testing, and refusal to sign a citation, according to court records
