The road is now back open after law enforcement officials said a pedestrian was hit near Star Avenue and Highway 231 on New Year’s Eve. Orange County Fire Rescue said firefighters responded just after 6 a.m. at a home along Sweetwater Country Club Place. According to firefighters, the fire started outside, extended up the wall and spread to the attic. Photo by: WKMG  A 41-year-old Sanford man was killed Thursday morning when his car crashed into a tree on Markham Woods Road in Seminole County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. on Markham Woods Road near Enclave Cove. According to a crash report, the Sanford man was driving a 2009 Cadillac CTS when it ran off the road, spun into the woods and hit a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
