A 12-year-old boy from Miami died after a John Deere side-by-side vehicle crashed near Doctors Hammock Road and Barfield Road in Hendry County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Monday. FHP troopers said a 9-year-old boy and a 41-year-old Miami man were also involved in the crash. A 53-year-old Winter Springs woman was struck and killed Sunday evening while walking across Lee Road in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The wreck happened around 6:20 p.m. near Kingswood Drive. According to a crash report, the woman walked into the path of a 2010 Ford Fusion that was heading west on Lee Road. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver was uninjured and remained on-scene. An investigation is ongoing.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated a deadly shooting in the county’s unincorporated Naranja area late Sunday night. According to MDSO, it happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the area of Southwest 266th Street and 138th Court. Firefighters responded to a house fire in Lehigh Acres overnight. The home is along Glendale Avenue, which is just off Joel Boulevard. Reporters on the scene saw smoke pouring out of windows as firefighters with the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District worked to get the fire under control.
