One person is dead after a crash in Okeechobee on Sunday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 85-year-old man was driving west on State Road 78, approaching a driveway located near Tomato Grade Road. A 47-year-old Kissimmee man died Saturday night after crashing into a tree near Poinciana, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. on Southport Road, troopers said. According to an FHP crash report, the man was driving a van westbound on Southport Road, approaching Hunt Road, when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and struck a mailbox as a result. An 8-year-old boy was shot and wounded Sunday in Casselberry, police said. The shooting happened around 11:25 a.m. at the GoldElm at Regency Oaks apartments.
