The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said rescue crews arrived at the scene just before 2 a.m. to find a 20-foot boat fully engulfed in flames. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office said one person is dead after an officer-involved shooting on Wednesday morning in Bay County. According to the BCSO, it received several phone calls regarding a man walking on Webber Street with a magazine-fed shotgun. Callers reported strange behavior from the subject near Highway 231. Law enforcement says that at around 8:30 a.m., a deputy arrived at the scene in Fountain and made contact with the subject when the subject began firing at the deputy.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said a man died on U.S. 41 after being struck by a truck on Tuesday evening. FHP said a Ford F150, driven by a 53-year-old Ruskin man, was traveling northbound on U.S. 41, south of Fourth Avenue Southeast, shortly after 8 p.m. on Sept. 2. A teenage girl from Chiefland died in a crash on a major roadway in Levy County on Tuesday morning. Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a semi-truck was improperly parked on the northbound right lane on US Highway 19 near Northwest 160th Street, just south of Fanning Springs, around 9 a.m. A 16-year-old girl, headed north on the highway, was unable to stop and crashed into the back of the semi-truck’s trailer. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.
