MDSO: Driver arrested after striking deputy’s vehicle in southwest Miami-Dade

A driver was arrested early Friday morning after striking a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy’s unmarked vehicle in southwest Miami-Dade and then fleeing the scene, authorities said. According to MDSO, the incident occurred just after 2:20 a.m. in the area of Krome Avenue and Southwest 184th Street. Deputies said after fleeing the scene, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a second car. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Young teen dies after being hit by pickup truck on Jacksonville’s Northside, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a young teenager died on Thursday afternoon after being hit by a pickup truck while walking across a street on Jacksonville’s Northside. Police said the crash occurred just before 4 p.m. on Biscayne Boulevard when a Toyota pickup truck, which was headed northbound on the roadway, hit the teen.
