A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Wawa at Colonial Boulevard and State Road 82 in Fort Myers. The incident happened on Aug. 6 at approximately 3:24 p.m. when an altercation between teens escalated into a shooting. The Fort Myers Police Department said officers found multiple shell casings and learned that bullets struck two vehicles. According to police, no one was injured. Shortly after 9 a.m. Aug. 27, Nokomis firefighters were dispatched to Maple Street for a house reportedly smoking. While en route, firefighters were notified that the house was fully involved, but all residents and pets were able to escape outside. Nokomis and Venice fire units began fighting the fire; a second alarm was sounded for additional personnel due to severe humidity.
