A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday morning in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The fatal wreck happened around 5:55 a.m. near the intersection of Lake Mack Drive and Inez Street, east of Lake Tracy and west of State Road 44. Details about the crash have not been released. The three-alarm fire broke out at B&D Towing and Recovery in Riverview. According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the fire involved numerous stacks of automobiles and parts in a large area. HCFR said 40 units battled the blaze, which was described as a “prolonged event.” Firefighters later brought the fire under control, but more work remained, officials said.

State troopers say a 71-year-old man from Interlachen was killed when he ran off the road in St. Johns County and hit a tree. Troopers say the man, whom they did not identify, was driving a pickup truck north on State Road 207 when he veered onto the right shoulder and flipped his vehicle over when he hit a tree. Officials are investigating a shooting in Northwest Miami-Dade that left one person hurt and hospitalized.
