Child seriously injured after hit by school bus in Collier County

A Collier County School bus hit a child on a bicycle in North Naples Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on Livingston Road and Veterans Memorial Boulevard around 6:47 A.M.

The 15-year-old girl crossing with their bike was Medflighted to Gulf Coast Hospital with serious injuries but in stable condition.

According to Collier County School District, The accident occurred after the driver had just finished dropping off students at Aubrey Rogers High School in North Naples.

There were no students on board the bus.

Collier County Public Schools will follow post-accident procedures, which involve drug and alcohol testing for the bus driver.

The driver could return to the route after a negative test and the required additional training following an accident.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
