A child is dead in what’s being described as a personal watercraft incident near the Putnam-Alachua County line.
A spokesperson for the Putnam County Sheriff’s office says rescue crews were called to Star Lake Drive in Hawthorne Tuesday afternoon.
Three children were on a tube being pulled by a Sea-Doo jet ski when it hit something, causing the children to be thrown off.
The ages of the children are 8, 10, and 11. Two of the children were taken to the hospital.
Florida Fish and Wildlife is investigating. We reached out to them after hours, but have not heard back. We will continue to update this article as we learn more information.
