Clay County bicyclist dies after being run over by trailer attached to pickup truck.

A 61-year-old man is dead after he was run over by the trailer of a pickup truck in Clay County on Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said the truck was traveling westbound on State Road 16, approaching Florida Court around 3:16 p.m. The 61-year-old man was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk adjacent to SR-16.

A witness said they saw the biker attempt to cross the road after the truck passed him, but he didn’t see the truck’s trailer.

The report said the right side of the trailer struck the man on the bike and knocked him to the ground. The trailer then traveled over him.

The driver stopped in the westbound lane facing west. The man and his bike were blocking the travel lane.
