Cocoa man, 21, killed in crash involving motorcycle, SUV on Merritt Island

72-year-old Melbourne woman pulled into path of bike, FHP says

A 21-year-old Cocoa man was killed late Thursday when a car pulled out of a driveway into the direct path of his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 10:35 p.m. on Courtenay Parkway near Catalina Isle Drive on Merritt Island.

The FHP said a 2018 Honda CRV driven by a 72-year-old Melbourne woman turned from a driveway onto Courtenay Parkway and into the direct path of a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The front of the SUV struck the bike, and the Cocoa man was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, an FHP crash report stated.

The woman driving the SUV and her passenger, a 77-year-old Melbourne man, were not injured and remained at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
