Pedestrian hit on I-75 in Gainesville, traffic delayed

A deadly pedestrian crash on Interstate 75 in Gainesville caused delays during rush hour on Thursday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes at mile marker 384, just north of the Archer Road exit, around 5 p.m. Troopers say a 50-year-old man was hit by a semi-truck.

The man was taken to UF Health Shands where he died of his wounds.

Emergency crews blocked the outside and center lanes as they investigated the death.
