A Collier County Sheriff’s Office deputy is recovering after being involved in multi-county car chase that ended in a crash.
On Tuesday around 10 p.m., The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a traffic crash involving a CCSO deputy and another vehicle at the intersection of Immokalee Road and Goodlette Frank Road.
The deputy was attempting to initiate a traffic stop on a fleeing vehicle when the crash occurred.
The deputy sustained minor injuries, and the two occupants of the other vehicle also sustained minor injuries.
The fleeing vehicle continued into Lee County.
After the crash, FHP assisted in pursuing the vehicle, which had initially fled from CCSO, and performed a PIT maneuver at Interstate 75 and Corkscrew Road.
The driver, 40-year-old JR, was arrested for fleeing, reckless driving and numerous license suspensions and revocations.
A female passenger was also arrested for a failure to appear warrant.
No injuries were reported in this part of the incident.
The crash and subsequent events remain under investigation.
