A construction worker was injured while on the job at the new Tradition Lakes K-8 School, according to St. Lucie Public Schools.

According to the school district, the worker was in a cordoned-off construction area at Tradition Lakes K-8 when the incident occurred. The district said there was no disruption to the school day.

According to Wharton Construction, the worker was struck by material that fell from an elevated work area.
