A crane truck fell over on its side in a northeast Miami-Dade neighborhood on Wednesday, crushing a portion of a house and knocking out power to almost 200 homes.
Footage from Chopper 6 showed the crane in between two homes at Northeast 14th Avenue and 111th Street.
The crane crushed the back corner of one of the houses and landed on some power lines.
Andrea Guerra lives at the damaged home with another adult and a baby. She said the crane collapsed in her bedroom where the baby also sleeps.
“Thank God we weren’t in the home,” she said in Spanish. “When we got here, the owner told us that the crane had flipped and we had to leave because everything inside is destroyed.”
Florida Power and Light called the accident “a serious incident” and that it knocked out power for at least 171 residents.
“FPL crews are on site and are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power. At this time, the incident is under investigation, and we are unable to provide any additional information,” FPL said in a statement.
Guerra said FPL is putting her in a hotel for the night.
It’s unclear what led up to the crane falling and if there are any injuries.
