Crash on I-75 kills 2, injures 3 including children in Marion County

OCALA Fla. (WCJB) – An adult woman and a teenager were killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Marion County on Wednesday morning, two young children and another adult were also hurt.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say around 10:20 a.m. a minivan was headed south on I-75 near County Road 318. The van switched lanes in front of a semi-truck causing the back of the van to collide with the truck’s tire.

The van went off the interstate and hit several trees before bursting into flames.

The 49-year-old woman driving the van and a 15-year-old passenger died in the crash. A 23-year-old woman in the van was seriously injured and two children ages 2 and 1 years old suffered minor injuries. Everyone in the van was from Miami.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
