A dog was rescued Saturday after it was trapped inside a house that caught fire in Clearwater.
According to a release, at 6:42 a.m. Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire on Barbara Avenue.
At the scene, firefighters extinguished the fire and rescued a dog that was trapped inside the burning structure.
Crew members treated the dog by giving it oxygen before Clearwater police rushed the animal to an emergency veterinarian for further treatment.
The dog, named Bandit, is expected to make a full recovery.
The release said no one was home at the time of the fire, and a preliminary investigation shows it may have started in the kitchen.
