19-year-old motorcyclist killed in Lakeland crash, police say

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a teenager was killed after being struck by a car while riding his motorcycle Saturday night.

Police said 19-year-old Blue Scott was traveling north on County Line Road just before 10 p.m., when a Nissan Altima was exiting a parking lot driveway onto the road.

An initial investigation indicated the Nissan crossed through the northbound lanes and into the path of the motorcycle, causing them to collide.

Both vehicles sustained serious damage, and Scott was thrown from the bike, which came to a final rest in the southbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene, PCSO said.

Investigators are not sure if he was wearing a helmet, but one was found nearby. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing, but distracted driving is not suspected as a factor in the crash at this time, PCSO said.
