Crews quickly contain house fire on St. George Island

The St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department released an update regarding a house fire that happened early Saturday morning.

St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department (SGI VFD) said they responded to the fire on Resort Village Lane on the west end of the island.

No one was inside the house, and crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly.

“Our volunteers are committed to excellence and work tirelessly to ensure they are ready to respond to any emergency,” said Chief Jason Timbert in a Facebook post. “We’re thankful for the strong mutual aid partnerships that help us protect our community.”

Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and Franklin County EMS were also on scene assisting, according to SGI VFD.
