A speeding driver was injured after colliding with a fire truck in Daytona Beach Shores, police said.
The crash happened Friday afternoon at the intersection of S. Atlantic Avenue and Emilia Avenue.
Photos from the scene taken by Daytona Shores Police Chief Mike Fowler show damage to the side of the firetruck, as well as front-end damage to the white car.
“It was our fire engine. It was struck by a female that witnesses state was traveling approximately 100 mph just before she hit us,” said Chief Fowler.
The female driver of the car was transported to the hospital as a trauma alert.
Fowler said the engine and a patrol car had their lights on, stopping traffic, and two were out directing traffic.
“Very lucky we didn’t have any injuries to our personnel,” Chief Fowler said.
