A pickup truck struck a palm tree before crashing into the facade of a Fort Lauderdale wine shop Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The crash left the driver hospitalized.

It happened at Small Wine Shop, located at 210 N. Andrews Ave.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene, where first responders helped the man onto a gurney after the crash.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, the man being transported was the driver of the red pickup truck, who was the only person injured.

It remains unclear what caused him to lose control and crash into the building.
