Driver sought after woman killed in hit-and-run in West Park, BSO says

Authorities are searching for a driver after a woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in West Park early Monday, officials said.

Deputies responded to the incident around 6:45 a.m. in the area of Barry Road and West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman lying in the roadway. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officials haven’t released the woman’s identity.

Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating and seeking information about the vehicle involved.

“At this point, the investigation is active and ongoing and detectives are trying to figure out what vehicle was involved,” BSO spokesman Carey Codd said. “They are actively seeking witnesses, searching for video, trying to talk to anyone who might’ve been in that area around that time in the morning to see if they might have some information to help them figure out what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
