An elderly couple’s quest for a parking spot in Downtown Stuart turned into violence when a man attacked them after they asked about his parking spot.
The Stuart Police Department (SPD) stated that on January 31, an elderly couple was attempting to find a parking spot in Downtown Stuart when they saw 47-year-old MS enter his truck.
According to officials, the couple waited for him to leave the spot, and after some time, the 71-year-old woman asked S if he was going to be leaving any time soon.
This question seemingly angered S because he got out of his truck and struck her, which caused her to fall; but he didn’t stop there, he began to kick her as she was on the ground, the report states.
SPD said the woman’s 74-year-old husband saw her getting assaulted and tried to defend his wife, which prompted Swick to divert his attention, pushing the husband to the ground and striking him as well.
S fled the scene after this, and SPD was called to investigate.
Through the investigation, officers were able to identify S as the suspect, and he has now been accused of two felony counts of battery on a person over the age of 65.
