Fatal car crash on US-27 in Columbia County claims life of 34-year-old woman: Florida Highway Patrol

A woman died in a car accident that took place Monday afternoon on US-27 in Columbia County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a silver SUV was headed east on US-27. When the SUV switched lanes and was struck by a pickup truck headed west.

The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old female from Lake City, died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, and her family has not been notified, FHP said.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 43-year-old male from McAlpin, and his passenger, a 21-year-old male from Mayo, survived the crash and experienced minor injuries.

The names of the drivers and passenger have not been released.
