FHP: Fatal crash leaves 1 dead, 6 in serious condition in Marion County

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Marion County crash that led to one person killed and six others in serious condition on Wednesday.

The FHP said the accident happened when a driver in a sedan was traveling south on I-75 in the center lane while, due to a previous crash, a van was obstructing the center lane.

The driver of the sedan failed to see the van and struck its rear section with his front section.

In the van there were six different passengers, which were all transported to the hospital. A 71-year-old man was pronounced dead, while five others remain in serious condition.

In the sedan, the driver was the only person in the vehicle who was also transported to the hospital. The 46-year-old driver is currently in serious condition.

The incident is pending further investigations.
