FHP: Mercedes driver crashes into Melbourne police cruiser after pulling out of Brevard Waffle House

The Florida High Patrol is investigating a crash after a Mercedes Benz driver crashed into a police patrol car on Tuesday.

According to the FHP, the crash occurred around 3 a.m. when the Mercedes driver was exiting a Waffle House located on Eau Gallie Boulevard, took an improper left turn and started traveling west on the eastbound inside lane.

Troopers said the Melbourne Police Department Patrol car was traveling eastbound on Eau Gallie Boulevard in the outside lane but began to travel in the inside lane to stop the Mercedes driver from continuing into oncoming traffic.

The 22-year-old Mercedes driver struck into the front of the officer in the police patrol car.

The woman in the Mercedes and the officer remained at the scene of the accident and were not transported to the hospital.
