Crews were on the scene of a fire Sunday morning at River Reach Apartments in Naples.
The fire reportedly occurred at 4:11 a.m. along River Reach Drive.
According to the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District, 12 of the 16 units where the fire occurred were occupied. Eight of those units suffered fire/water damage.
Fire officials said the entire building is currently without power.
Overall, 32 residents were reportedly displaced due to the fire.
Firefighters could be seen trying to gain access to the smoke and flames coming out of a roof.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Gabriella Francisdaky was one of the several River Reach residents who woke up on Sunday in survival mode.
“I didn’t sleep much. It was a crazy night,” said Francisdaky.
Greater Naples Fire said that although the fire is under investigation, they can confirm it is accidental in nature.
“I turned over to my husband and told him, and quickly after, someone started banging on the door,” she said.
Francisdaky said that her family didn’t get to grab any personal items upon evacuating the building.
“We had to run, put on our clothes and run out of the apartment with our dogs,” said Francisdaky.
At the moment, River Reach is temporarily providing a hotel for residents who cannot stay with family or friends.
“Management at the property did a really good job handling the situation,” Francisdaky added.
The North Collier Fire Department, City of Naples Fire Department, Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Collier County Emergency Medical Services responded alongside Greater Naples Fire.
