A home in Lynn Haven caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
The City of Panama City, the City of Lynn Haven, and Bay County Fire and Rescue arrived around 1 p.m. at the smoky scene on Wood Valley Road.
Flames engulfed the house, with nearly 20 miles per hour winds igniting the fire within. Pops were also heard near the fire; propane bottles were likely the cause of this noise.
“We received a call for a residential structure fire on the scene. The crews responded quickly, got on scene and found heavy fire shelling from the roof of the house. So with that we had assistance from the city and Haven, the City of Panama City come in. And so the cranes worked really well together. They made sure that the fire didn’t spread to any other structure,” Bay County Fire Battalion Chief Matt Gothard said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
