Fireworks left on driveway spark Cape Coral car fire on the Fourth of July

Firefighters were called to a home in Cape Coral after fireworks left near a car set it ablaze Friday night.

According to the Cape Coral Fire Department, crews responded to a report of a car fire on Southwest 16th Place during Fourth of July celebrations.

Firefighters said the fire started after fireworks were left on the driveway near the rear of the vehicle.

Officials said no one was injured in the fire, and the flames were quickly extinguished. Damage was mostly limited to the back of the car.

Cape Coral Fire reminds residents to properly dispose of used fireworks and allow them to fully cool before placing them near vehicles or other flammable materials.
