A Fort Myers man was arrested early Saturday morning after he intentionally rammed his Kia Soul into an officer’s truck at an intersection in Clearwater.

According to officers with the Clearwater Police Department, 28-year-old B was arrested and booked for counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following the crash, which occurred around midnight on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard just west of U.S. 19.

Investigators said a Clearwater police officer was stopped at a red light in a marked Ford F-150 when B, driving a 2025 Kia Soul, accelerated and struck the police vehicle.

The officer was transported to Morton Plant Hospital with minor injuries. Police said the officer was treated and later released.

According to investigators, B admitted he intentionally crashed into the officer’s vehicle but did not provide a motive. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
