Police in Florida are currently on the lookout for a woman who stands accused of a hit-and-run incident involving a motor scooter rider, resulting in serious injuries, and then fleeing the scene.

The department recently released video footage depicting the hit-and-run, which is believed to involve a gold Toyota Rav 4. Authorities have stated that the incident occurred in Tampa during the afternoon of October 12.

The victim in this case, identified as Jonny Fitzcharles by FOX13, shared his harrowing experience outside Ybor Grocery in what appeared to be a densely populated neighborhood. Fitzcharles expressed his shock and disbelief at the actions of the alleged perpetrator, saying, “If she saw me, she could have seen how scared I was, and to just walk away from that was obviously unthinkable. I can’t put it into words.” He went on to share the fear he experienced, believing he might not survive the ordeal. He recalled repeatedly asking at the scene, “I’m going to die. Just somebody tell me, am I going to die? Yes or no?” Fitzcharles sustained several broken bones, as well as numerous cuts and scrapes.

Video obtained by FOX13 provides an alternative perspective of the incident compared to the footage released by the police. In this video, the driver appears to disregard a stop sign, colliding with Fitzcharles, who was riding on a motor scooter. The impact dragged him for a distance before coming to a halt, leaving onlookers in shock. The woman operating the SUV exits the vehicle, looks around, gets back inside to reverse slightly, steps out again, then returns to the driver’s seat, reverses once more, and eventually departs from the scene.

The Tampa Police Department has described the driver as a Black woman with long braids, standing at approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.
