A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a crash on Sunday afternoon in Jackson County.
According to a news release, the incident happened at 12:29 p.m. on Mission Road at EOF State Road 71. It involved a 19-year-old male from Young Harris, Georgia, driving a sedan and a 30-year-old male from Bascom.
Officials said the 19-year-old driver was heading westbound on Mission Road approaching a right curve as the FHP patrol vehicle was eastbound on Mission Road.
The 19-year-old failed to slow down and was unable to pass the curve, resulting in his vehicle traveling into the eastbound lane. Officials said the front of his vehicle collided with the front of the patrol vehicle.
The 30-year-old trooper faced minor injuries, officials confirmed.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Florida Wildlife Commission, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and Jackson County Fire Rescue.
