FHP: Mother, daughter killed in Wakulla County Fourth of July crash

FHP: Mother, daughter killed in Wakulla County Fourth of July crash

A mother and her teen daughter were killed Friday in a crash between a Ford F-250 pickup truck and a Toyota Prius on Woodville Highway Friday evening, per FHP Master Cpl. Patricia Jefferson-Shaw.

FHP confirmed the mother and daughter were in the Prius involved in the crash.

Meanwhile, troopers said all four people inside the pickup truck, including a 2-year-old and 13-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.

It’s unknown if the people in the pickup truck are related to each other.

It’s also unclear how the crash unfolded.

Coastal Highway is currently closed near the intersection of Woodville Highway due to the collision, and drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes, according to a Facebook post from the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.

As of 10:45 p.m. Friday, FHP confirmed the closure is still in effect while the crash is under investigation.

WCSO said to “expect delays and detours until the roadway can be cleared and reopened safely.”
