Girlfriend with history of violence arrested after allegedly punching man friend

A Fruitland Park woman was arrested for battery after allegedly punching her boyfriend multiple times.

An officer responded to 50-year-old JIA supposedly battering her boyfriend at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

A denied being involved in a physical altercation. She instead claimed her boyfriend had pushed her bicycle over after they got back from a store in the area. She stated they had been dating for about three years and lived together, the report said.

However, the boyfriend advised that A came to the residence and been trespassed by the homeowners the day before. She started a verbal argument while he was in the garage, during which she struck him with a hooded sweatshirt and punched him twice. A video of the incident corroborated his story, the report said.

He added that on Wednesday, she again came up to the residence to start another fight. As he tried to walk away, she punched him in the back. He did not think he would have visible injuries, which the officer confirmed, the report said.

A criminal history check revealed A had previously been arrested in a battery case involving the boyfriend, but this was dismissed on July 29. She did have a battery conviction from July 2019, though, the report said.

A was subsequently arrested on charge of domestic battery (one prior conviction). She was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.

She was also arrested in July for allegedly biting her boyfriend’s back.
