Head-On Collision on Chancey Road Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

A head-on collision on Chancey Road north of Correia Drive claimed the life of a driver Wednesday evening and left two others seriously injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that a northbound Honda Fit, driven by a 44-year-old Apollo Beach woman, failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the centerline shortly before 7:20 pm. The Fit collided nearly head-on with a southbound Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old Zephyrhills woman.

The driver of the Fit sustained fatal injuries at the scene. The driver and a 38-year-old male passenger from Zephyrhills in the Civic were both transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

FHP is investigating the cause of the crash. Chancey Road was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the scene.
