Hernando County firefighters rescue dog trapped in crashed car

A dog was rescued Saturday after a vehicle crash caused it to become trapped inside.

According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, crews responded to a call just after 1:30 a.m. involving a vehicle crash at U.S. 17 and Long Lake Avenue.

HCFR responders rescued the dog from one of the vehicles, and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office drone unit assisted in locating one of the vehicle’s occupants in the woods.

Hernando County Fire Rescue said one patient was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
